March 6 (The Sports Xchange) – New York Yankees reliever Mariano Rivera is set to retire after the 2013 season. The team has scheduled a press conference for Saturday morning to announce the move, multiple media outlets reported Thursday. A likely first-ballot Hall of Famer, the 43-year-old Rivera is a 12-time All-Star who played on five World Series championship teams. The career saves leader with 608, Rivera has blown only 39 saves in his career, and he’s posted a 2.21 ERA with 1,119 strikeouts in 1,219 2/3 innings. …
