Major League Baseball chief wants tougher drug penalties

- Major League Baseball (MLB) commissioner Bud Selig has called for stiffer penalties for players caught using performance-enhancing drugs, asking the league and players association on Saturday to come up with a new system. Selig asked MLB executive vice president of labor relations Rob Manfred to enter talks with Michael Weiner, MLB Players Association executive director, about introducing a tougher anti-doping regime.
