Any hopes Astros fans had of Lance Berkman returning to Houston to finish his career were ended on Saturday, when the slugger told MLB.com he had agreed to a one-year contract for $11 million with a vesting option and a $1 million buyout for 2014 to become the designated hitter for the Texas Rangers.
